4 Days Rwanda Gorillas & Mount Karisimbi Hiking

After the early morning breakfast, meet a driver guide, and today, you will have a city tour in Kigali. Explore the vibrant Kigali and its unique attractions, including the Gisozi/Kigali genocide site, nearby museum, or historical sites plus local markets. Next will be embarking on a journey to Volcanoes National Park located in Ruhengeri, Northwestern Rwanda.

Volcanoes National Park lies near Kigali and is the most accessible gorilla safari destination. On a normal occasion, driving from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park takes about 2-3 hours. A comfortable 4x4 safari vehicle is more preferable for your road trip to Volcanoes National Park.

Travel time to Volcanoes: 2-3 hours.

Wake up in full energy and start the day with a delicious breakfast in your respective accommodation facility. After, meet the driver guide who will transfer you to Kinigi for a pre-gorilla trekking briefing, which is expected to last for half an hour (30 minutes) or more At Kinigi, the park official will allocate a gorilla family to lead you through the actual trekking adventure. As you wind through the natural forest, appreciate Volcanoes National Park’s tranquility and the inspirational sounds of nature.

Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes takes between 2 and 6 hours, but this is inclusive of one hour for you to watch a family of mountain gorillas in a close range. During the close interaction with gorillas, you have a chance to observe the unique behaviors of mountain gorillas, their feeding habits, take pictures, and much more. A full-packed explanation will be provided by your park ranger guide, and after, expect to walk back to the Kinigi area to meet your driver guide.

Transfer from Kigali to your respective lodges for relaxation. Enjoy a delicious lunch, and late in the afternoon, you will continue to Iby’Iwacu Village, just a short distance away from Volcanoes National Park. At the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, expect to explore more about the traditions, cultures of the locals, and not to miss the energetic entertainment.

Enjoy a hefty breakfast, and after, you will be transferred to Kinigi for you to get briefed and have a ranger guide allocated to you. Your first hike to the summits of Karisimbi starts today, and you expect to ascend for 6 hours up to camp at 3700m. The final journey to the summits of Mount Karisimbi (4507m) will be made the next day.

Have an early morning breakfast, and after, you will proceed to the peak of Mount Karisimbi. Once you have reached to the summits, appreciate the breathtaking views and later, begin descending to Kinigi to meet your driver guide. At Kinigi, exit at leisure for Kigali, which is a 2-3 hour drive. You will be dropped off to the hotel/airport if at your flight is scheduled today.
