4 Days Bwindi gorillas & Lake Bunyonyi is one of the best short Uganda tours. At Bwindi, expect to begin your gorilla trek from the 4 (four) sectors –Rushaga, Buhoma, Ruhija, and Nkuringo. After trekking gorillas in Bwindi National Park, you will proceed to Lake Bunyonyi –Uganda’s deepest Lake with over 29 scenic Islands. Your 4 Days Bwindi gorillas and Lake Bunyonyi is designed with flexibility, whereby you can begin and end it from Kigali or Kampala.
The Brief Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali/Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park by road
Day 2: Bwindi gorilla trekking plus Batwa cultural experience
Day 3: Leave Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for Lake Bunyonyi, a canoe ride with a local guide
Day 4: Pick up & Return to Kampala or Kigali
Detailed Itinerary
Early morning, you will be picked up from Kampala/Kigali and drive to Bwindi National Park. Driving from Kampala to Bwindi includes navigating via Masaka, Mbarara-Kabale and the overall journey will take between 8 and 9 hours. En route to Bwindi via Masaka comes with a stopover at the Equator crossing (Kayabwe). Leave Kayabwe for Mbarara for you to have a delicious lunch and continue to Bwindi in the breathtaking hillside of the Kigezi region.
If you are departing from Kigali, you will be crossing to Bwindi through the Katuna/Chanika border. Departing from Kigali to Bwindi can take you just 4-5 hours, and once you get there, you will check in the lodge.

Meet your professional driver guide from Alba Wonders Africa for early morning pick up from your respective lodges. Transfer to the Buhoma region in a 4x4 tourist car, and upon early arrival, you will join others to clear with the park officials. This includes presenting your credentials, including valid gorilla permits and other documents for identification. After you have been cleared, you will be taken through the set gorilla trekking rules.
In addition, you will also have a gorilla group allocated to you, plus a ranger guide to lead you. Each gorilla group in Bwindi is visited by a maximum of 8 guests per day, and today, your trek will start at around 8:00 am. Depending on your walking speed, you may take about 2-6 hours in the jungles as you search for the Bwindi gorillas. On getting a group of gorillas, expect to have an hour face-to-face with these amazing creatures.
Start trekking to the park offices where the park official will provide a certificate to you signifying a successful gorilla trekking session in Bwindi. Continue to the lodge to relax as you regain the strength for evening excursions. In the evening, it won’t be trekking again but an enriching Batwa cultural experience, which you will enjoy in the close by Batwa community/village.

Following your early morning breakfast in the lodge in Bwindi, depart for Lake Bunyonyi, located in Kabale. You will drive through the scenic countryside characterized spectacular hillside and once you have arrived, you will proceed straight to the camp or resort to check in. Get some time to relax and later, catch up with the afternoon canoe ride. The romantic canoe ride with an expert presents ushers you to one of the islands while spotting amazing birds on Lake Bunyonyi.
